Bright Horizon About

Founded in 2004, Bright Horizon Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization and a member center for the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA).

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, Bright Horizon is hosted in a friendly and well maintained facility located in Siletz, Oregon. Our center includes a viewing room, wheelchair accessible grooming areas, tack room and indoor arena. All of our therapy horses are either donated or leased to the center and are carefully screened for soundness, temperament, and smoothness of gait before being accepted into our program. Currently we have 6 program horses.

Riders of all skill levels and abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate in Bright Horizon classes. Independent riders will find our programs challenging and helpful in advancing their specific horsemanship skills. Assisted and special needs riders will find that our therapeutic riding programs can be tailored to accommodate a wide range of development and therapy goals. All of our riders gain knowledge of important equine care and maintenance issues.

Riders with disabilities such as the following commonly participate in, and benefit from, equine therapy: Muscular Dystrophy, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism, Multiple Sclerosis, Spina Bifida, Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries, Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Disorder, Strokes, plus many others not listed here.
